"Valencia is home to a variety of rambutan. " During the month of July to October, there is an abundance of rambutan fruits along the street of Valencia town.
To propagate rambutan, seeds are removed from the fruit and washed. They should be planted horizontally with the flattened side so that the seedlings will grow straight and have a strong root system.
Seeds will germinate in 9 to 25 days.
In Oriental Mindoro province, budding is used to propagate rambutan during the month of May.
Rambutan must be planted at least 33 feet apart to prevent overcrowding, which would result in poor fruit yield. They must be sheltered from strong winds that would cause damage during the flowering and
fruiting stages. Some rambutan varieties such as "Seenjonja", "Maharlika" and "Simatjan" are hermaphodites, having both male and female functions.

All rambutan growers must contend with the various pests and diseases that hinder the growth of the fruit, such as the leaf-eating insects the mealybug (Pseudococcus Lilacinus) and the giantbug (Tessaratoma Longicorne). Mangotwig borer (Niphonoclea Albata) which usually attack mango trees, occasionaly appear on rambutan trees. Fruit flies are constant pests that attack the ripe fruit. A serious disease caused by tomes lignasue can be fatal to rambutan trees if not controlled.
