During our interview with Mr. Init, he said that wild rambutan is called "palagaon" in the mountainous
regions of Valencia. Mr. Init grows two varieties of rambutan at his farm: Simatjan and Maharlika. These two varieties differ in hair length, hair density, shoot color and taste of their fruits.
Mr. Eudoxio Init relayed some interesting information to us. When rambutan is grown from seeds, the daughter plant will not be the same variety. Consequently, you can name the daughter plant with your name or any name you choose. You need to submit a fruit sample of the daughter plant to the Deptartment of Agriculture once a year for 3 consecutive years.
